Revolutionizing Orthotics and Prosthetics Management: The Nymbl Systems Story

    Sponsored by City of Dublin

Nymbl Systems is a cloud-based software company that provides practice management and electronic medical records solutions to orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) providers, currently serving the O&P, Complex Rehab Technologies and Home Medical Equipment (HME) industry. Located in Dublin, Nymbl Systems was founded in 2016 by Josh Lau, who wanted to find a way to simplify and streamline the O&P practice management process after seeing firsthand the challenges these providers faced during his 10 years of experience in the industry.

The traditional O&P practice management software is outdated and difficult to use, leading Josh to develop a platform that would be more efficient, user-friendly and affordable. The software’s goal is to help providers save time and money, improve patient care and increase revenue by automating tasks such as appointment scheduling, records management and patient billing. By streamlining the billing process, Nymbl’s software allows providers to lower costs, increase revenue and provide a less complicated process collecting payments from patients and insurance companies.

Josh describes the entrepreneur experience as both challenging and rewarding. “It is challenging because you are constantly facing new problems and setbacks,” he says, “However, it is also rewarding because you have the opportunity to build something from the ground up and make a real difference in the world.”

Josh says some of the biggest challenges he faced included raising capital, hiring and managing a team, developing and launching new products, marketing and selling his products, and dealing with competition. He says the most rewarding part of being an entrepreneur is seeing the impact Nymbl Systems has had on the lives of O&P providers and their patients. He is proud that the product helps providers save time and money, improve patient care and increase revenue.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Josh emphasizes the importance in doing research and understanding the market you are entering. He believes there is never a right time to get started, and that building a strong team is important. With all the challenges that may be faced along the entrepreneurial journey, he encourages being persistent and not giving up easily.

Josh decided to relocate Nymbl to Dublin because of the City’s strong tech ecosystem and the opportunity for strategic partnerships with other Dublin businesses, such as Cardinal Health. He also was drawn to the city’s commitment to innovation and high quality of living. Dublin’s Bridge Park development is also ideal for staff recruitment and retention for growing businesses.

In the future, Josh sees Nymbl Systems becoming the leading provider of O&P practice management, as well as making significant headway as a leader in the HME industry. Hehopes to expand Nymbl’s product offerings to include new features and functionality that will help providers continue to improve their practices and the lives of their patients.

“Nymbl Systems is on a mission to simplify and streamline the HME practice management process so that providers can focus on what they do best: caring for their patients.”
